FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in my first session?

Our first session will last 90 minutes. During that time to get to know each other a little bit better and come up with a plan. We will prioritize the issues that you want to address and then talk about the strategies that we will use to address them. If you have previous experiences with therapy, good or bad, we will talk about those as well

Do you actually offer via webcam?  How does that work?

Surprisingly well!  I was skeptical about online counseling at first but after I started offering online sessions in 2010 I saw some remarkable results.  Today, around half my clients utilize webcam therapy.

There's lots of a discussion about how it compares to face-to-face counseling, but I think that's irrelevant.  An online session with a clinician who has expertise and training in the area in which you need help is more helpful than a face-to-face session with a clinician who does not.

There are several studies indicating that the pros of webcam therapy outweigh the cons.  In fact, the Veterans Administration hospitals in the USA have recently started offering webcam sessions to active-duty and retired military personnel because the results speak for themselves.

Do you just see clients who are struggling with trauma?

No! I have experience with drug and alcohol addiction, eating disorders, relationship struggles, sex addiction, as well as depression and anxiety.

Do You Accept Insurance?

I'm not able to accept insurance or work with insurance companies for individual sessions because of my license. I work under the supervision of Rob Heinrich, LPC, so insurance companies will not allow me to submit sessions.

How much do sessions cost?

Initial assessment sessions (80 minutes) - $225

Follow-up sessions (50 minutes) - $150

What are the age ranges of your clients?

My training and experience allow me to work effectively with anyone over the age of 18.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations require 24 hours of notice otherwise they will result in the client being charged full price for the session that was missed.

Are you a Christian? Do you take clients who are not Christians?

Yep, I am a Christian. And I have worked with people of every sexual orientation and/or faith tradition as well as agnostics and atheists. I believe that my mission in this life is to use my gifts to help as many others as I can regardless of their spiritual path.

Do you work with individuals? Couples? Families? Groups?

I work with patients over the age of 18.  I have training and experience in both individual and family therapy.

Do you just see clients who are struggling with trauma?

No! I have experience with drug and alcohol addiction, eating disorders, relationship struggles, sex addiction, as well as depression and anxiety.

What are you like?

My clients tell me that I’m laid-back, peaceful, occasionally funny, and have a unique aptitude with understanding how and why they got to where they are.

My family members say that I’m fun-loving and a bit absent-minded. Rumor has it I can also be stubborn, but I categorically deny this.
